Don’t leave home without …

I like to think that I travel light. As long as I have my phone, earbuds, ID and credit card I’m good to go. With so many people heading out of town to escape the cold, on spring break or a business trip, I thought it would be fun to find out what vital items Stephanie and Carol always take with them, or any tips they have on keeping healthy and 100% when traveling away from home. Maybe I will be packing a little more next time I travel!

It’s always easier to travel with make up removing wipes instead of a liquid make up remover, especially if you aren’t checking a bag. Acura Micellar Water Cleansing Towelettes are Stephanie’s go to.

Everyone needs sunblock, need we say more! Beautycounter Countersun Mineral Sunscreen is a good clean option.

Carol protects her face from peak hour sunlight with a baseball cap or hat. It’s also important for her to travel with good facial oil and a rose quartz roller or gua sha tool for glowing skin/decreased puffiness/just having a lovely little self-care ritual.

Stephanie and Carol both agree that feeling well rested and comfortable is always important when traveling. Eye masks and ear plugs are a must to help get sound sleep. Lavender essential oil and crystals can help you feel grounded and calm on a flight. It’s also a good time to catch up on reading and podcasts such as “Mastering your Fertility”, “How They Built This” (one of Stephanie’s favorites) and Natural MD Radio with Aviva Romm Hay house meditations. Download a meditation, put your headphones on and close your eyes and relax.

Carol likes to travel with activated charcoal and Huo Xiang zheng qi san (a Chinese herbal formula) in case her tummy starts feeling weird. About a month before any travel she increases intake of probiotic rich lactofermented veggies (like kimchi and sauerkraut) and kombucha to boost gut health and immunity.

Stephanie keeps Sovereign Silver Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol for Immune Support handy, she has even been known to spray her plane seat with it!

Staying hydrated is always important and a glass water bottle is a better way to go than plastic for your health and the environment. Plastic can leach into water bottles, there’s a harmful chemical in plastic called BPA which is linked to health issues such as weight gain, cancer, insomnia, arthritis, heart disease and many more (although you can now get BPA free plastic bottles). Plastic bottles are also bad for the environment where as glass bottles are 100% recyclable. Many resorts and airports are aware of how many people travel with their own water bottle and numerous have refill stations. Cheaper for the traveler and better for the environment! Stephanie always has her glass water bottle with her at the office as well.

Right before a flight Carol makes sure NOT to drink any carbonated beverages. She read that the bubbles in them expand as you get in the air and can cause bloat and discomfort.  She used to love getting a kombucha at the MSP French Meadow, and always got bloated on flights. Since she stopped doing that she’s been fine!

I am sure everyone has their own tips and tricks, but hopefully this will give you a few more. Safe travels!
